And breathe!
What a year it’s been! 2024 has been a full-throttle ride for The Audit Toolbar.
We’ve been hard at work designing, specifying, developing, testing, deploying, and delivering. And now the smoke has all cleared, we’ve saved the industry 450 years of grind. That alone must be worth a celebration.
This week we’re flipping the script. We all know auditors are absolute masters of telling you exactly what has happened in the past, without a rounding error in sight. But right now we’re going to look ahead. We’re going to stick our necks out and predict what’s coming in 2025.
So, take a minute, make yourself a Mocha Chocca Latte, put your feet up and let me tell you what we’re seeing in the next 12 months.
No change here, the trend will continue but gain pace. The days of manual checks and balancing are numbered. Technology is going to continue its shake up of the auditing status quo. It will continue to help you automate routine tasks, spot problems before they even happen, and process big data sets in a fraction of the time it used to take. AI and Blockchain will have a role too, but the industry will be cautious.
As digital transformation gathers pace in auditing, right behind it will be digital crime. Where there’s technology and money, there’s a fake ID trying to slip in unnoticed to clean you out. In 2025, auditors won’t just be counting beans, they’ll need to be the gatekeepers of cybersecurity. Your clients will want to know that getting access to their data will be as hard as getting into Fort Knox. Business continuity will be a word we’ll hear more of.
We know you’re good at spotting what’s already happened, but in 2025, you’re going to be the one helping businesses look into the future. Strategic insights, risk management, and forecasting will start to form part of your role, if it hasn’t already. You won’t just be a number cruncher; you’ll be the business advisor everyone wishes they had. Get ready for the role to get bigger, bolder, and a lot more fun.
