Audit maybe.

I’ve been having this recurring anxiety dream lately.

‍

Someone’s just seen a demo of The Audit Toolbar. It went well. Everyone’s nodding. It’s all smiles. Then someone says:

‍

“We just need a bit more time to decide.”

‍

And that’s where it ends.

‍

Familiar?

‍

You’re feeling like this should be the right move, but you’re still not quite ready to pull the trigger.

‍

If that’s you on the horns of that dilemma, you’re not the only one.

‍

Look I get it. You’re auditors. Detail people. Measured and rational. People hire you because you’re allergic to risk.

‍

I know because I’m an auditor too, but do you mind if I sound a word of caution?

‍

There’s a difference between being careful and being stuck in endless deliberation.

‍

At some point, it stops being analysis and starts becoming inertia.

‍

It stops being responsible evaluation and starts becoming something that holds you back.

‍

Let me tell you why I think people hesitate.

‍

Sometimes it’s because there’s a quiet voice saying:

‍

“We could build something like this ourselves.”

‍

I think we both know that’s not going to happen. That sounds to me like you managing an audit team moonlighting as software engineers. That probably wasn’t in your 2025 objectives.

‍

Another reason? People see audit tech tools as a nice-to-have rather than a must-have.

‍

We hear this a lot. But audit tech isn’t a nice-to-have anymore. It’s the infrastructure of a modern practice.

‍

People don’t really think these tools are a nice-to-have. It’s just another way of saying:

‍

“Let’s come back to this when it’s a bit quieter.

‍

But waiting for a quieter time to look at this properly is like saying you’ll fix the roof when it stops raining.

‍

So, if you see even a scintilla of yourself in any of that, let me ask you a question.

‍

If you’re not ready to decide now, what do you think is going to happen between now and later that will suddenly make the decision easier?

‍

Because in most cases, nothing really changes.

‍

The same pressures are there.

‍

The same inefficiencies.

‍

The same pain points.

‍

Only more of them together with a can that’s been thoroughly kicked down the road.

‍

So maybe it’s worth asking, what’s really holding you back?

‍

We’re not here to pressure you. But if this message resonates, maybe it’s time to look at this again with fresh eyes and a resolve to decide one way or the other.

‍
